long-wire antenna at 40m

I grew up in central California, and for a long time I was a member of
the Paso
Robles Amateur Radio Club.
I was most active in HF SSB. I had plenty of space in the country, and
used a very long galvanized wire antenna fed by 300 Ohm twin lead. I
had a beautiful Johnson Viking Match Box which I foolishly sold after
college. I was inactive in Ham radio for about a decade. Fortunately, I
kept my Swan 270 and my Kenwood TS-530S. Now my job includes antenna
and communication work, so I have restarted my hobby as well.
Currently, I am involved with the Amateur Radio Research and Development Corporation
(AMRAD) in McLean, VA. I have given lectures to the club on the topics
of L-Networks,
RF Particle Accelerators, LASERS, RF Skywave Propagation, and an Automatic Z-Match
antenna tuner (PDF sildes and PowerPoint
with Video Links - longer download).
I also built an Ionospheric Sounder.
My latest project is an Automatic
Z-Match antenna tuner.
Here are a few pictures of my Ham Shack.
